PostHeaderIcon Essential Constitutional Amendments

The most important issues in any new Constitution for T&T are:
1. Any Executive President must be elected by the majority vote of the entire electorate - this would end gerrymandeing and house padding

2. No Executive President should be allowed to serve for more than two terms of a maximum of 10 years

3. Voting for our Parliamentary Representatives must be based on mixed First Past the Post and Proportional Representation which will act as a check and balance to the executive powers of the President and represent true representation of the People

4.Local Government allows for participatory democracy it must be entrenched in our Constitution, based on two year terms of office with a formula that requires a specific percentage of budget be spit among the local government bodies. This will put an end to the current winner take all system which is so debilitating. All CEPEP type works should be undertaken by the Local Government bodies and not the Central Government

5. Referendum on significant issues and right of recall for non-performing members of parliament
